Things to Read
There are a great deal of classy writers out there! Most we know in some form or fashion, but most we don’t. Unfortunately, it is not easy to get known, which means that we are all missing out on some quality ideas! Though there isn’t much to put up now, I will be adding as I encounter good stuff!
Though the books may be few and far between, I encourage those of you who are reading good ones to send me recommendations. One criteria: the author must be independent. NO BIG PUBLISHING HOUSE BOOKS! I want the messages of the brilliant independent authors out there heard. Though some are not-so-much, there are some that are spot on and greatly surpass the big publishing not-so-much authors.
I greatly encourage you to send me essays, poems, narratives, blogs, books, etc. If you have something to write, I am interested to read! Just send me your works at ben@somedaypublished.com and I will do my best to get back to and let you know what’s going on!

Restoring A Divine Friendship: What if Jesus Was My Roommate
Dialogue
This piece is a raw and gut-wrenching dialogue between a character most can greatly relate to, and one we are still trying very hard to understand. Though tragic in nature, the truth value of this piece is large enough to catch most peoples notice. It is a beautifully written, quality piece about the unspoken interactions most of us regularly have with Jesus. I hope you guys enjoy this piece! I know I do a great deal, I will keep you all in the loop as to future pieces from David.
Blogs of Interest:
A writer out of N.C., Doug Wahl is a consistent blogger with a very vulnerable and real style. There will always be a soft spot in my heart for blogs, considering that is how I got my start, but this guy has my blogging career beat up and down! The quality of his posts put a great deal of my posts to shame! Doug also does the occasional speech, which he makes accessible. I listened to a more recent talk called “Reality Check” and I really enjoyed it a great deal! Check him out, it’s definitely a well written blog, which says more than most.
Triskelos is a blog that discusses all kind of religion, culture, and politics. There are often book reviews, and very relevant posts and comments from the readers and writers. You can go from one post discussing calvinism v.s. arminianism, to a movie review with ease! If you have a Google blogger account, I recommend following this one!
Unfortunately, very few Christians are investigating the nit and grit of our environment, and how to be “good stewards” over it. Moreover, some of the ones that are really aren’t that great at writing. Fortunately, there is one blog out there from someone who is focused on organic worship and can structure a sentence. Lauren Merritt is a talented writer who focuses on the myriad of issues that deal with the environment and how it is evidence of God’s sovereignty.

The Relevance of Jesus Without All That Religious Crap
Steve Hughes
If the title hasn’t caught your interest then you either don’t know who Jesus is, or what the second word means! The book is probably the most frank discussion of Christianity I have come across in literature (excepting anything from Dawkins, Hitchens, etc.). The book is a short read, but still voiced the religious concerns of the younger generations of believers. Though the title may be a bit unsettling, the concerns vocalized in this book are worth reading. Check out the link to the book site, and I encourage you to go from there!

Keeping It Between the Ditches:
Living the Christian Life
Ray Sikes
One of the new trendy things in Christian writing is to discuss everything very abstractedly. Applicability tragically takes a back seat to fluffy rhetoric. Ray Sikes is not a trendy author. His book “Keeping it Between the Ditches” contains a myriad of essay structured narratives that discuss how things like music, sex, church, and booze affect his relationship with God. Instead of engaging in abstract theological discourse, Ray sifts through the philosophy of it all and proposes solid advice for the believer! This book also can be best purchased on Amazon, check out the link!
